This is actually a paraphrase from one of the world's wealthiest men, and the richest person in the world in 2008, Warren Buffett. In reference to how much money he would bequeath to his children, Buffett replied: "I want to give my kids just enough so that they would feel that they could do anything, but not so much that they would feel like doing nothing."

Ray

A 2004 biographical film focusing on 30 years of the life of rhythm and blues musician Ray Charles. This independently produced film starred Jamie Foxx in the title role for which he received an Academy Award for Best Actor.

Ray Charles was set to attend an opening of the completed film, but he died of liver disease several months before its premiere.

Despite facing many hurdles in his journey, Ray Charles moves on fearlessly. The courage he shows was inspirational at all levels.

There is an intense sadness and yet there is a spontaneous willingness to walk alone in the dark, which sure looked magical!

Trivia: Jamie Foxx had to wear eye prosthetics that really did make him blind for up to 14 hours a day during shooting.

Trivia: The actual beach is not totally surrounded and enclosed by mountains, hiding it from the sea. In fact, there is a large gap between two gigantic boulders, and the films editors superimposed a fake mountain there in post-production.

I am inspired to observe the passionate journey taken by many to merely SURVIVE!

Trivia:
The film is based on a memoir by Slavomir Rawicz depicting his escape from a Siberian gulag and subsequent 4000-mile walk to freedom in India. Incredibly popular, it sold over 500,000 copies and is credited with inspiring many explorers.

However, in 2006 the BBC unearthed records (including some written by Rawicz himself) that showed he had been released by the USSR in 1942.

Flash of Genius

A 2008 American biographical film, focuses on Robert Kearns (the part played by Greg Kinnear) and his legal battle against the Ford Motor Company when they developed an intermittent windshield wiper based on ideas the inventor had patented.

Based on a true story: Robert Kearns was the inventor of the intermittent windshield wiper systems used on most automobiles from 1969 to the present. His first patent for the invention was filed on December 1, 1964.

Kearns won one of the best known patent infringement cases against Ford Motor Company (1978–1990) and a case against Chrysler Corporation (1982–1992). Having invented and patented the intermittent windshield wiper mechanism, which was useful in light rain or mist, he tried to interest the "Big Three" auto makers in licensing the technology. They all rejected his proposal, yet began to install intermittent wipers in their cars, beginning in 1969.

While it may be important to prove a point, to what extent does one need to stretch themselves...was worth an observation.

Trivia: Today over 145 million cars carry the wipers that Kearns invented.

The production requires a ballerina to play both the innocent White Swan and the sensual Black Swan. Natalie Portman, is a perfect fit for the White Swan, while Mila Kunis has a personality that matches the Black Swan. When the two compete for the parts, Natalie Portman finds a dark side to herself.

Black Swan received critical praise upon its release, particularly for Natalie Portman's performance & Darren Aronofsky's direction, and it was a significant box office success.

Natalie Portman won the Academy Award for Best Actress for the film, as well as many other Best Actress awards in several guilds and festivals, while Darren Aronofsky was nominated for Best Director.

To be aware of the 'good' and the 'bad' aspects of my personality and yet not judge my life situation!

Trivia:

- The script took around ten years to make it to the screen.

- The budget on this film was so tight that when star Natalie Portman had a rib dislocated during a lift and she called the producer for help. She was told that the budget was so low they had no medication. She stated that if they needed to cut items from the budget they could take away her trailer, instead of the medication. The next day her trailer was gone.
